Well, 7 weeks, better than last time.

The new job is a big big improvement over the last one. I am significantly happier, and one thing's for sure - I'm never going back. Not sure how to put it, put this is a "normal job". The practice of law is severely dysfunctional - I know this applies to personal injury law from personal experience, and from what I've heard, it's pretty much true across the board.

Also making me happier is the arrival of spring. I'm seriously living in the wrong state. Someday, if/when I can ever afford it, I will totally get a winter place in Florida.

I'll end with a quiz - a little bit late, as the primaries are over (despite what some people seem to think) Seriously accurate though, confirms what I already knew almost exactly.

I too will make an actual post. :p

So, stuff's happened since my last post, oh, about a year ago.

Got a house. I think you all know about this. Anyone reading this who has not been over yet, you're invited, nay, urged to come by and visit. We haven't had an official housewarming party yet. We may do this once the weather is a little nicer.

Got a new job. Starting a week from Monday. This is good. I will be back to working in Southfield rather than Detroit. I didn't much like working in Detroit, so that's a plus. The roughly 25% pay raise is also a plus. Finally, it should be a lot less stressful. Rather than chasing ambulances, I will be representing Medicaid and some private health insurers in recovering money from property & casualty insurers. Hardly exciting stuff, but I'm quite ok with getting my excitement outside of the workplace.

Went on a cruise with the old job. It was 7 days on the Carnival Triumph, to San Juan, St. Thomas USVI, and Nassau, Bahamas. A stop had been scheduled at Half Moon Cay, also in the Bahamas, but it was called off due to rough seas. There were in fact rough seas for much of the trip. I found out that I am one of those lucky people who don't seem to get seasick. All in all I did enjoy it, sunny days in the high 70's are always nice.

I think I'd go again, but I'd go with a different cruise line and a different set of ports. Carnival is the cheapest line, and it shows. Lots of families, poor quality food, and unrelenting "fun." ("Fun" seems to be a Carnival trademark of sorts. In fact, they refer to their ships as the "Funships", there's a mascot "Funship Freddy", etc. Very much a partypartyparty atmosphere.) I'm more of a "quiet relaxation" and "see interesting things" vacation type. I also didn't much care for San Juan, although I was impressed with the abundance of lewd beach towels for sale. Got a good deal on some duty-free liquor though. St. Thomas was much nicer, and Nassau was also nice, but mostly closed due to Good Friday.

Looking forward to summer, and Mayfaire in a couple of months.

So, Anita & I went to see Kathy Griffin at the EMU Convocation Center last night - absofuckinlutely hilarious. Not a huge fan of her show (rarely am, I almost always find that I like comedians' stand-up better than I like their TV shows), but she was brilliant, way better than anything I've seen her do before.

Other than that, not much else new. The job's still a job, I'm about to head there now after some breakfast. Hopefully I get a large raise at my salary review in December. If not, then I'll chalk it up as a resume-builder, and resume the search.

So, I'm watching AZN-TV. "KMC" is on, which I'm guessing is "Korean Metal Countdown", or something like that. One of the Videos, "Machine Ares" by Ares, was quite surprisingly good. I did a google search on the album, and found an amazon-type site, in Korean of course. I had google translate it, and this is what it gave me for the album info:
